<br />
Back in March (2014) he had a surgery (his 14th) and they tried a new cell growth treatment, A-cell. He had some deep tunneling in his wound that simply would not heal. We were ready to find something new that would work. First they put a porcine sheet in the tunnel and they loaded it up with the A-cell powder. The tunneling was about 7 inches deep and the A-cell managed to grow new cells in about half of the tunneling. But after a few months it just wasn't working anymore.<br />
<br />
Flash forward to Oct 2014, we all decided he needs another surgery, the tunneling is just not gonna close. So they went in, cut him back open, debrided it, then put down another porcine sheet, sewed the sheet to his leg and then covered it with the A-cell powder. They put in a drain and then stitched his leg closed. Here are some pics, one wth the drain in and one with the drain out.<br />

<br />
<br />
2011 was the worst years of our lives. Howard contracted MRSA which led to necrotising faciitis (the "flesh-eating" disease). He was in the hospital for 6 weeks, 4 surgeries (died once), 6 weeks in nursing home, 6 weeks of home health care, lost his job and our insurance, and I had to nurse him back to health. And let me say upfront, I am not a nurse and will never be a nurse. It was agonizing for me to have to take care of his open wounds while he tried to heal up! I don't know how Dr's and nurses do it, Bless them all!<br />
<br />
This is what we originally started with. He was cut from about 4 inches above his knee to the top of his thigh and then around on his hip. Approximately 24 inches long in total and it was open a good 10 to 12 inches across. Very overwhelming to have to look at every day for a person who can't stand to see blood!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC4N0vDIXqlXvJ8DxG5fjtByjdhGxXBZSoW-bY0vbMLblAvagsc3TTSRpQsoZkDSRR2ThfesJJXCfqQ7VGy3uanZnMZgQwiQZTLs5HzUuhKpGNWHHjheQqaEjD4IWJAWJsrBqs_zEbRs7L/s1600/more+of+howie's+leg+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC4N0vDIXqlXvJ8DxG5fjtByjdhGxXBZSoW-bY0vbMLblAvagsc3TTSRpQsoZkDSRR2ThfesJJXCfqQ7VGy3uanZnMZgQwiQZTLs5HzUuhKpGNWHHjheQqaEjD4IWJAWJsrBqs_zEbRs7L/s320/more+of+howie's+leg+(2).jpg" uda="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjixyHjRfDfL-S-NjujLOEZmttg01k9VIVKyV6ZeB24aYYiNvnYjtR9qXnjk_cXQJP_wABc7ghNXJyKHy2CaFtc2gGXHa3LAMl7Tqe3jATGdRtsXxhahpT2Wmo3D4cS-T-QqFUrsL-k9Jb1/s1600/Howie%2527s+leg+with+infection.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjixyHjRfDfL-S-NjujLOEZmttg01k9VIVKyV6ZeB24aYYiNvnYjtR9qXnjk_cXQJP_wABc7ghNXJyKHy2CaFtc2gGXHa3LAMl7Tqe3jATGdRtsXxhahpT2Wmo3D4cS-T-QqFUrsL-k9Jb1/s320/Howie%2527s+leg+with+infection.jpg" uda="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
They had to go in four times and debride the infection off of it and remove a good bit of tissue and muscle. During the 4th operation his blood pressure bottomed out and he passed a clot to his lung and he died on them. Thank GOD, and I did alot of thanking GOD, they got him back and he spent 4 days in ICU. When I went in the ICU to see him, they had 5 of those IV hangers, each with 4 IV's on them all around his bed. I didn't know one person could have so many IV's at one time. They had him on blood thinner for the clot, and a wound vac on his leg, and the wound vac started pumping out his blood, so he ended up getting 16 bags of blood. He was on a respirator and had a feeding tube. It was all vey intense. I went home every night and cryed myself to sleep. The surgery was on a Monday, and then on Thursday I went in and he was sitting up, all his tubes were out and they were ready to take him out to a regular room. He was feeling all better, of course he was on a dilaudin drip for 6 weeks, so he was felling no pain and doesn't remember a thing about any of his hospital stay. Aww, the wonders of modern medicine!<br />
<br />
Here are some more pics on the progression of healing. Well, only one pic. I have more on my camera disc, but they don't seem to want to download to my computer right now.<br />
<br />

On Monday, March 5, Howie had some more surgey to close up his leg finally. I am so glad not to have to clean out that wound anymore. Right now it has a couple of drains in it that I have to empty every day, but it is so much easier to take care of. He has some awful scars and will have another awful scar when the top is done healing. Good news is he lost 100 or so pounds! Originally, they removed a big chunk of this thigh and butt muscles, so he has some mobitily problems. He is not very good with steps, and is a little unstable at times. He has to use a cane to keep his balance and is not good with carrying things, or maybe that is just an excuse to keep from carrying in the groceries! lol<br />
<br />
Anyway, that is what I have been doing the past year. High stress and not good for my Fibro, depression or diabetes. I am just worthless for doing anything but the necessities. I am just exhausted. Howie is finally on disability retirement with OPERS. We were four months with NO income between his job ending and his disability starting. It was horrible!! By the time we pay his medical insurance out of his monthly $1219 we receive $735 to live on for the month. And I have no income. Social Security denied me for the second time while Howie was in the hospital and I just didn't have the strength to find a lawyer at that time. I need to get back on it though. I just don't see how they can find me not disabled. Really, I can not work a real job! I can not stand for more than a couple minutes and can not walk for any distance without having to sit and rest. Oh well, more on that later.<br />
<br />
Just wanted to let everyone know what I have been up to and why I have neglected my blog for so long. Later... <br />

It was at a local church that has a big play area like at McDonalds. She had kids from her preschool there and they all had a ball in the play room. We had cupcakes and ice cream. I had yummy chocolate, of course! Shelby got lots of cute presents. I took lots of pictures, but my camera is out in the glove compartment of the car. I will try to show some of them tomorrow.<br />
<br />
Gotta run for now.<br />
Love Ya<br />
PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-25182960484804513542011-04-25T23:49:00.000-07:002011-04-25T23:50:05.846-07:00long time coming...My goodness, it has been almost a year since I have blogged anything. I have not worked now for almost 4 years. Can't stand on my own for more than 2 to 5 minutes. Fibromyalgia has been killing me! Had to miss Easter because I did too much walking buying groceries and running errands Saturday. And I am still hurting very bad today from it!! It's like when you go drinking and take a couple days to recover after a big binge. At least you can quit drinking, I can't just quit living! Groceries and the DR's are the only places I get to go now.<br />
<br />
I have been so depressed lately just thinking about all the things I have had to give up, esp now that it is spring. I can't garden or work in the yard, no planting flowers, no going to yardsales or flea markets, no festivals or fairs, no amusement parks or zoos, no Red's games or Bengals football, no fireworks (esp Labor Day in Cincy), no vacations, no more casino or boat, no more concerts, no more scrapping in Cincy with my peeps, no more shopping for clothes or just going to the Mall. How depressing is that??? I only get to go get groceries once every 2 weeks, and to Dr's appointments! Whoo Hoo, I say sarcastically!<br />
<br />
Anyway, I am trying to find a way to make a little money, so I have my own money. I tried to sell on e-Bay, but shipping prices had went sky high and I hadn't realized it, so most of the things I sold at the beginning of the year I didn't make any money on. It all went to shipping! DUH!!! And having to haul things to the PO just about killed me, and there is always a line in there! Not Fibro friendly!<br />
<br />
I am hoping to have a craft booth at the downtown farmers market this summer. I just need to find someone to help me set-up and tear down every Saturday. That would kill me doing it by myserlf. I bought a nice canopy that says one person could put up, but it didn't say one "disabled" person! Maybe I can bribe Cortney with money to come and help me, but she would have to give up Friday night with her friends!<br />
<br />
Well, I'm tired and hurting, so I think I am going to take my meds and hit the bed. I need to make some things this week for the farmers market. Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow I won't be in so much pain.<br />
<br />
Love you all,<br />

I love watching Hoarders and Hoarders: Buried Alive because it makes me feel better about myself. I am not as bad as those people, or am I? I do not hoard garbage and I don't have to walk on a foot of trash to get around. And I don't hoard animals. But I do have a problem throwing things away and collecting things I don't have room for. I also have health issues that make it hard for me to keep up with housework. I don't really think I have to much stuff, my house is just too small!!! No, really!!! LOL</div><br />
<br />
I live in a VERY small cottage. The main house is 24' x 24", 480 square feet! And then my scrapbook room is on the back porch in an area about 8' x 6', 48 square feet. That is only 528 square feet for my whole house!! Some new homes have living rooms bigger than that! That is seriously small, especially for a collector like me. Don't be scared, but I am about to show you some pictures of my scraproom, and also two other problem areas. My goal this summer is to clean them up, get rid of stuff and then organize what I want to keep. <br />
<br />
First, this is my yarn areas. It is all in the living room. I have 6 milk crates full of yarn. Each crate holds at least 12 jumbo one pound skeins of yarn or 15 regular skeins, or more. That is just a drop of my yarn. There is another larger crate under the TV tray full of yarn, plus a couple of wip's in bags, and many spools of cotton. Next picture are my totes full of squares that need joining from the ladies at AC4C, plus a couple other boxes. Third picture is behind my recliner. There is a huge extra large tote full of yarn, plus 4 more boxes sitting on top of that, all full of yarn. So that is my yarn foolishness that fills the living room! I'm really not sure what to do with it though, but there must be a better way.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the picture from the doorway. In this pile of items there is a Cricut, a sewing machine, a Bind-it-all, a Cuttlebug, a Slice, all still in their boxes. No where to put them to use them. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These pictures show my shelves. It is a huge unit and is full of shoe boxes. It holds 15 per shelf. 3 up, 5 across. Unfortunately it is overrun by junk that also doesn't go there. Plus there is another shelf unit and a 3 drawer cabinet. Just lots of junk that I should get rid of in this area.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And finally the area under my desk. it is full of boxes of pricesless mementos (I think), USPS boxes, scrapbook supples I never use, new purchases, and crap. As you can see there is a bag of jumbo punches, my wastebasket, a brand new lamp, and in my chair is a box full of my Angel Company stamps that need mounted and cut out. The room is just a catch-all for any overflow. It makes me sick to even go out there, I just don't know where to start and what to do first. I need some serious help out there! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLJQ-_8sIoP4k5CZ9Xrv_O7UqjC3QoR8qZ-ylVw28oju3R1c0ec2xu1ouqvnM3oQmn2GlhfIzmLZYC3tCCq6_a_DHmHFzhFnsJrsOMWHT_nTeXycRDzghjDefjrilwx5Ka2U6cvh8sv_x8/s1600/100_1985.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ru="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLJQ-_8sIoP4k5CZ9Xrv_O7UqjC3QoR8qZ-ylVw28oju3R1c0ec2xu1ouqvnM3oQmn2GlhfIzmLZYC3tCCq6_a_DHmHFzhFnsJrsOMWHT_nTeXycRDzghjDefjrilwx5Ka2U6cvh8sv_x8/s320/100_1985.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now, for the next problem area. It is in my kitchen. I have a 6' x 4' table. Originally it was to hold my computer (my old one), and my printer, and an area for mail, and then a surface to work on for cookng.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Underneath has become a book depository, lots of craft mags, and purchases with no home.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's hard to tell, but this is the top of the table. As you can see, the computer is still there, although you have to fight to get to it! Lots of junk with no home is on top of the table.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the other end of the table, Behind that stack of magazines lies my printer. You can't even see it! So, what's the verdict... hoarder..... not a hoarder? It is a very fine line. And I am going to get something done with all of it. I belong to FreeCycle, but it just tortures me to give stuff away. Well, admitting you have a problem is half the cure, right? And I do admit I have a problem. <br />
<br />
That's all for this post..... Later, PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-38498732929590949982010-06-20T02:12:00.000-07:002010-06-20T02:12:27.289-07:00Not enough time...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">There smply is not enough time to write on my blog. I don't understand it though because I have nothing but time. I took pictures and planned to write about many things. There has been Shelby's 4th birthday party, visiting the farmers market, Goodwill purchases, Coles graduation and party, Mother's Day, sending off baby afghans to my charities, taking mom to her treatments, spring plantings, buying a new freezer, working on my food stockpile, job hunting, health problems, working on a few plans to bring in money (farmers market and flea market), just lots of things. Wow, I am exhausted just writing about it. </div><br />
<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">At least I feel like I have done something with my blog now. I will write some things about hoarding later this week... I think I have a problem!</div>Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-249075830234604352010-05-13T03:08:00.000-07:002010-05-13T03:10:15.021-07:00Thursday May 13th... my sister's birthdayHappy Birthday to Sue!!! I can't say how old she is, but she has broke the half century mark! She is starting to fall apart now. She had some knee surgery a few weeks ago. I've told her, it just gets worse and worse. I have no idea how my grandma Cross made it to 96. It scares me just to think of living another 36 years. What must that be like?<br />
<br />
I am not so good at keeping up this blog thing. I barely have time to get anything done. Where does the time go? Well, most days it is hard to even get out of bed. With the fibro plus the sleep apnea I can sleep 12 to 16 hours easy. I have little strength to do much when I do get up. DR Patel gave me a prescription for some pills to help me, but United Healthcare will not pay for them! They suck! I hope we go back to Medical Mutual next year. I have to say sometimes my life just kinda sucks. Sorry, just having a moment!<br />
<br />
ok, I will be better next time!Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-39968723402771320452010-03-29T13:42:00.000-07:002010-03-29T13:42:32.901-07:00Retreating WeekendRita's Retreat was this past weekend, at King's Domain, outside Lebanon. It is a great place and as usual was lots of fun. I just wish they had WI-FI. If they did I could have just taken my computer and been a happy camper. But they don't, so I had to figure out what to take. It doesn't really matter as I never end up doing much. This time I took my charity crocheting projects, and some things to scrap. Well, I finished a baby afghan, and did all the make 'n takes (7 of them). I listened to some music on my computer and played solitare on my computer and read a bunch of scrapbook magazines. And that was it. As usual, I ate way more than I needed, but they feed us 3 meals! And then snacks... I did drink plenty of water though, so I didn't come home dehydrated like I usually do. <br />
<br />
I sat at the grown-ups table with Rita and the girls and I have to admit I missed sitting with the younger girls. I like listening to the stories about their kids and work and whatever, and the music. I guess that is the price for getting old! I did have good music to listen to tho, I brought a couple of Nickleback DVD's and then Howie has all our New Rock favorites on the computer. I just had to wear headphones and that was rather inconvenient. I need a set of headless earphones for next time.<br />
<br />
Got some great ideas from the make and takes for Easter. Several types of candy holders for the kids. I need to get those made this week so I can take them to mom's with me Friday. I bought the candy for them at the store yesterday, so all I need to do is make them. I have every thing I need in my supplies already.<br />
<br />
I am doing laundry so I need to go get Howie's work shirts out of the dryer. He can't go to work topless!! LOL <br />
Later,<br />
PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-48280833422469029592010-03-17T23:15:00.000-07:002010-03-17T23:24:28.110-07:00St Paddy's Day.... Fades to fibro....I am not Irish and I don't partake of green beer anymore, so St Paddy's Day kinda loses it's fun for me. Just like New Years Eve, it's not much fun without the bubbly. Oh, I could probably have a drink, but who knows what would happen with all the meds I have to take. I would probably get a little loopy, or alot loopy! I do enjoy watching the drunks though! If they could only see how stupid they act when they get drunk... they would have a big surprise! I'm sure they think they have it all together. I know that is what I thought when I was drinking. I always wore pretty bras because I never knew when or where I was going to be raising my shirt up! Yeah, Party Girl!!!<br />
<br />
I am still joining squares for charity. January was for Polka Dots & Preemies, February was for Navy Relief (seabags for babies), and March is Bundles of Love. All are baby afghans. It is my work... can't find a job, so I have to volunteer and stay busy. The ladies from our group makes squares, sends them to me and I join them together into baby afghans. <br />
<br />
I would love to show you some pics, but I'm having a brain fart and can't remember how to download them to here. My damn Fibromyalgia... I keep forgetting more and more. I thank God for Howie! We've been together so long he knows what I'm saying, all I have to do is start the sentence. And anymore when I start a sentence my mind just quits working and half way thru I forget what I was saying and just stop talking! It really sucks! <br />
<br />
The job search really sucks. Some jobs I have applied for 5 or 6 times and not even an interview. It is just crazy. I would even be happy with something part time. I just need to be able to sit while I work. I think if I can't find a job by the time my unemployment runs out I may have to apply for SS Disability. The longer I am unemployed the worse I get. Working was the only thing that has kept me going the last 20 years. If I hadn't pushed myself to work I would have been on disability long ago. My mobility just sucks, can't walk without a cane, can't shop without an electric cart. I wish I had a power scooter or hoverround of my own. I would be able to do a lot more. I could go to flea markets again, or to the fair, or the casinos, or shopping at stores that don't have electric carts, well, you get the idea.<br />
<br />
Gotta get off here and work on my afghans. I really need to update more often. And I have got to figure out how to do the picture thing again. <br />
Later... PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-11022371690607361992010-02-07T23:45:00.000-08:002010-02-07T23:59:10.889-08:00Happy Birthday and Snowed In!First things first... Sunday February 7th.... Coles 18th Birthday!!! My little grandbaby is 18, he's going to be graduating from high school... seems like only yesterday I was changing his diapers... I say as I wipe away the tears... our little baby is all grown!!! Ok, enough of that! lol jk Cole!<br />
<br />
What a weekend. Who asked for the snow? I thought we would get 3 or 4 inches, holy cow, we ended up with a foot or more! and I took some gorgeous pictures of the snow, but it is not letting me put them in my post. Or I'm just not remembering how to do it right, which is a very good possibility. And my computer is slow for some reason, so I am out of hereScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-46275888613055861312010-01-27T23:04:00.000-08:002010-01-27T23:04:08.646-08:00State of the Union...Loved the presidents speech! That's the Obama I know and love! I'm glad he put the Republican's in their place. They need to get on it and start working to pass necessary legislation to get things done. Their filibustering on everything is getting old! And I am about fed up with John Boehner. Everytime I see him and his fake tan I just want to smack him up side his head. And every time he says that none of his constituents want the public option on healthcare, I want to jump up and say "You Lie!!!" I don't know anyone who doesn't want the public option, and I have sent him many emails telling him so! I definitely am NOT voting for him when he runs for election again! And I will be doing the happy dance if he doesn't get re-elected!!!<br />
<br />
Ok, I got that out of my system! Now I can go to bed and not be running it around in my head all night. Love ya all.... PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-3990296994763273052010-01-04T22:51:00.000-08:002010-01-04T22:55:18.364-08:00New Year for Everyone!Thankfully 2009 is finally over. 2010 is a new year and I have plans to make some changes. Life moves fast, you either have to roll with it or jump out of the way! I also hope all of you are making changes this year in your lives for the better. Please Recycle, Reduce, Reuse Whenever You Can! <br />
<br />
Last week I went over to Miami-Jacobs and checked into their Vet Tech degree program. It sounded cool and I was all set to go in that direction until I realized I was going to have to learn how to put an IV into some poor little animal, or give them a shot, or anethesia. I just can't do it, I would love to be able to, but I just can't. Soooo... now I am either going to take the Health Information Technology or Medical Office Management. I am more of a paperwork girl, billing people, organizing offices, transcribing notes, not having to look at the bloody stuff in life! I have an appointment tomorrow to fill out financial aid papers. If I can't get financial aid I will have to come up with another plan that doesn't involve going back to school.<br />
<br />
I also plan to get organized in the new year. I need to get some more scrapping stuff put up on ebay. I really need to get about half of the stuff cleared out of my scraproom and sold. It is just crazy to have so much stuff and not use it, or need it. I'm sure I needed it at the time I bought it though! LOL I just want to be able to feel creative when I am in my scraproom and right now it just fries my brain to even have to sit at my scrapping table. All creative ideas are immediately blocked, and that's no good!<br />
<br />
I have dozens of baby afghans to make this month. Lots of preemie babies are depending on me. Well, not just me, but our AC4C group. What a great group of ladies!<br />
<br />
I will be writing more about the other things I am planning to do in 2010. I have lots of ideas that I need to carry out. Gotta go for now. I have a few things to get done yet before I can go to bed. Later all....Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-76876411989912223922009-12-13T00:30:00.000-08:002009-12-13T00:30:03.377-08:00Effects of cold medicationI have had a bronchial infection for over 3 weeks now. It is finally starting to get better, but I have been medicated forever, or so it seems. I know I was in a daze for a week or more, zonked out on the cold meds.<br />
<br />
I haven't felt like doing any big crocheting projects, but while I have been sitting here in my recliner the past few weeks I have made yoyo's for one of my charity groups. We have a lovely lady, Dawn, who loves to join them into afghans, bless her soul. I have also made about 25 7" granny squares for several exchanges and other projects. I have many partial skeins and balls of yarn that I plan to use up on making squares and yoyo's the rest of the month. Gotta get my stash a little more organized.<br />
<br />
I also went onto my AC4C (All Crafts 4 Charity) yahoo group to see what projects we are going to be working on for 2010. There are lots of baby projects, but I don't do baby things very well, at least not well enough to give to someone. :) So, I have volunteered to join squares for our group! Just call me crazy! I'm sure the mail lady will call me something different when she starts delivering bags and boxes of squares to my house! lol I have plenty of yarn to join them with and it is a no-brainer job. I can do it while watching TV with Howie. I am excited to be doing it, this is my calling.<br />
<br />
I have a few boxes of lapghans to take to the nursing home and I have about 6 afghans I want to take over to the womans shelter. I need to get them out of here to make room for this new project. And I guess I need to get a bunch of scrapping things up on ebay to clear out some room on the back porch. Its the getting it all out and photographing it all that slows me down, figuring what I want to throw into each lot. I think I will sell all my small punches and get rid of alot of pattern paper and cardstock. If I can get rid of some of my Leaving Prints stock and the Out of The Box kits I would be happy. Storage is at a premium so I need to do something on that backporch in a hurry, what a mess. Collecting things is now my addiction, but I don't think AA or NA would be much help. Most of their 12 steps would not apply. <br />
<br />
It is 3:30am (of course) and I need to get off here. I need to get my swiss steak started and in the crock pot and then go to bed. I can hardly wait to get to sleep, I have been having some crazy dreams the past week and can't wait to see what pops up tonight. I don't know if it is from the Zetia, it is the only new drug I have started taking at night. I guess I need to read the info sheet that came with it. I wouldn't think the mucinex would cause crazy dreams, but I guess it could be the nyquil! lol or one of the many other drugs I take daily to make it thru to the next day. LOL Well, poke me with a fork, I'm done!Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-20081467625601104362009-12-12T23:45:00.000-08:002009-12-12T23:45:36.884-08:00Christmas is coming...It's that time of year again. I used to love Christmas, the decorating, the shopping, the baking, Christmas caroling, driving around looking at the decorated houses. It was such a great time to see friends and family. Lucinda Stambaugh, my favorite MIL, God bless her soul, used to do it all for Christmas. I loved Christmas at her house. We were always making candy and baking cookies, and having a few little hot toddies. lol I loved her hard tack candy (Amy still makes it for Christmas), potato candy, divinity, peanut brittle, buckeyes and more. And Grandma Evans recipe for pumpkin cookies with cream cheese icing. uummm uummm uummm! <br />
<br />
Wrapping presents was an "event". We would go over to the little house and presents would be stacked everywhere. And she had rolls and rolls of paper and every ribbon and wrapping decoration known to woman. She had embellishments she had put on the boys presents every year since birth. We would both be straddled out on the floor, carefully wrapping and decorating each gift. They each had to be just perfect, and the bows were spectacular. It was just so much fun and your butt was numb for days afterwards. lol<br />
<br />
Her tree was always beautiful. Unlike ours which always seemed to be crooked. For at least 3 years I had to brace it to the ceiling with little wires to keep it from falling over. I don't even put a tree up in our little cottage anymore. There is not enough room, it is just too much work for me physically and I don't feel up to it emotionally either. I know I haven't decorated since dad died. I did buy a wreath for the front door last year, but that's the extent of it. I have 5 or 6 big totes in the basement with Christmas stuff in them that I haven't even looked at for years. Maybe someday I will get back to it, but not this year.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I was just looking at some of my favorite blogs and the beautiful vintage Christmas decorations they had, and it just brought back some wonderful Christmas memories and I came here to write them down. So to all my friends and family... Have a Beautiful Christmas and share it with those you love!Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-55353808398533843572009-11-18T04:10:00.000-08:002009-11-18T04:14:04.121-08:00Not much going on...Thought I would just post a little note. Not much going on scrapbook wise. I have been very busy crocheting and just haven't had enough time to scrap too! Kari is bringing me several disks of the kids pictures to download at Thanksgiving. We are having Thanksgiving at Tinika's this year, so maybe I can download Tinika's pictures too. That would be great. I don't have many pics of the girls. <br />
<br />
Ok, I am done writing for now, more later....PattiScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-70045701195010036882009-10-13T16:43:00.000-07:002009-10-13T16:43:30.876-07:00Just made a few more cards for a card swap and thought I would post them. I am off to a great retreat this weekend and I can hardly wait. I have some projects to make for an upcoming Christmas bazaar and will also take along a couple of crochet projects for when I am bored with crafting. I am also taking along my computer and a couple movies to watch while I'm working. And Howie has our CD's loaded on here too, so I'm all set to entertain myself when I am not socializing. I will also remember to take my heating pad this time! The chairs just weren't as comfy as my recliner and my back really got to hurting last time. Every thing but my clothes are packed. And I think I will pack up the car tomorrow if it's not raining. Loading and unloading the car in the same day just kills me. Thank God for modern drugs and pain killers, and curse the devil for fibromyalgia!<br />
<br />
Okay, enough whing, here are my cards. Well, I thought I was going to post my cards, but apparently I am brain dead and can not get them to load onto here. I must need more coffee or diet Dew! lolScraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-67716293410885859322009-09-10T03:34:00.000-07:002009-09-10T03:45:04.217-07:00My first try at digital scrapbooking!I recently saw a demonstration on Smile Box for making digital scrapbooks and thought it looked so easy. And Lo and Behold, what do I find in my email box but a sample of Smile Box. I took a stab at it and I have to say it was every bit as easy as it looked. I haven't really had any time to scrapbook lately. In fact, I have a brand new Cricut sitting here that I haven't even opened yet. I have been spending too much time on my new addiction... crocheting for charity. I have even been selling a lot of my scrapbooking stuff on eBay to buy yarn instead of SB supplies. So JoAnn's is still getting my money, just in a different department. lol<br />
<br />
Okay, so here is my digital scrapbook....<br />

I needed an Anniversary card, a Masculine card, and a Sympathy card. Here is what I made, I hope you like them.<br />

<br />
<div></div><br />
<br />
<div></div><br />
<br />
<div></div><br />
<br />
<div></div><div></div><div>This is my Anniversary card. The stamped image on the front is from the T.A.C. T-899 "Flower Collage Trio". The sentiment inside is from the T.A.C. T-160 "Best Wishes". Cardstock is Bazzile, and embossed images on the card from is Cuttlebug.<br />
<br />

<br />
This is my masculine card. White cardstock is generic, blue cardstock is Bazzile, pattern paper is Leaving Prints. Stamped images on the front are from the T.A.C. T-2820 "Just a note" and I'm not sure what T.A.C. set the Love You is from. The fancy cut on the front is from a Fiskars edge punch.</div><div><div><br />
<div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8yKxECvYIIFpwn1k8tFOQTWUBfzfrOF9TK-HCQ4Z3kHvPjGVay74WcR3tm1YDfjs2PWty7RnZZdwN31GAPfIEffr2X0w00Z3cLjAp26021wTUH8j8t5Ahyphenhyphen7VCDLWcxQHSAZJbwxtgoKEs/s1600-h/sympathy+card+for+swap.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370192984526850978" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8yKxECvYIIFpwn1k8tFOQTWUBfzfrOF9TK-HCQ4Z3kHvPjGVay74WcR3tm1YDfjs2PWty7RnZZdwN31GAPfIEffr2X0w00Z3cLjAp26021wTUH8j8t5Ahyphenhyphen7VCDLWcxQHSAZJbwxtgoKEs/s320/sympathy+card+for+swap.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<div>I really like the Sympathy card best. It looks alot better in person. I'm just not that good with my camera. The cardstock is Bazzill, the pattern paper is from the T.A.C. Willoughby paper collection, generic mini brads, the sentiment is from the T.A.C. T-2771 "With Sympathy" and is popped up. The stamp in the corner is from the T.A.C. T-2940 "Decorative Corners"</div><div></div><div></div><div><br />
Now I need to get them bagged up and sent off to my swap. It has been forever since I scrapped or made anything. I 'm in the mood now, guess I will see what else I can come up with. Have a great Day! Miami County Fair is going on across the street. I think there is a funnel cake in my future! Gotta Love the Fair and carnival food!</div></div></div></div></div>Scraplady51http://www.blogger.com/profile/02821991226962725119noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208708961324364158.post-37992371782149955302009-08-11T23:35:00.000-07:002009-08-12T00:10:07.033-07:00This should be easier....I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to sent up this blog. What an ordeal. It should be easier for those of us who don't know what the heck we are doing..... meaning ME!!!<br /><br />I have a blog over at SparkPeople.com and it was so easy to set up. Thank God. But I use that to discuss my weight loss progress and I wanted something for scrapbooking. And I have a Facebook page, and it wasn't that hard to set up, and I even have it linked up to my SparkPeople blog page. I thought with so many people using blogger.com it would be easier. All I can say is... NOT!<br /><br />Anyway, I am going to be making some cards and working on some scrapbook pages and wanted a place where I can post them. Lord only knows what a deal that will be. I haven't been doing much scrapping lately. Seems like everytime I sit down at my scrap table my mind just goes blank. Not an idea in my head, nadda, nothing, just empty space!<br /><br />I did work on a digital scrapbook last night. My first try at digital. I saw a story on a scrapbook show about Smilebox.com and it looked so easy. It only took her a few minutes to make an album. Well, yesterday in my e-mail box there was an advertisement from Smilebox.com! And it was free, I could try it for free. So, in far less time than it took me to set up this blog, maybe only 15 minutes, I made a cute little album, and it even has music with it! Here is the link to it, it is so cool. Putting in the journaling took the longest. I think I'm going to buy the yearly subscription, but first I wanted to see how much it costs to have the pages printed out, just to make sure it is worth it.<br /><br /><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d5441344d4463324e6a413d0d0a&sb=1">http://smilebox.com/play/4d5441344d4463324e6a413d0d0a&sb=1</a><br /><br />I also wanted to set up a blog for my crochet projects, but think I will look around at other host sites first.I have been crocheting things for different charities and crocheting some things for Christmas.And I want to be able to post them and some of my patterns.<br /><br />Okay, I think I am done complaining now. Gotta get to bed. Long ay tomorrow followed with my Weight Watcher's weigh in and meeting. It hasn't been a good week for me food wise!<br /><br />Later...
